The bamboo grove has evolved and the painting in gouache is finished. It has been so enjoyable to paint this art work in colours which reflect my experience when visiting the bamboo grove near Kyoto. The colours not only reflect colours of the grove physically but, for me, transfer my feelings of mystery, majesty and calm. The music from the person playing the Japanese flute was so beautiful and seemingly floated around the huge bamboo. Japan is a wonderful country to visit … and the bamboo grove was even better than I imagined.
